Recall Details:
Hill’s Pet Nutrition learned that the products had elevated level of vitamin, which was not good for the consumption for dogs. They began researching about all the canned dog foods, which included complaints, medical consultation, and quality of their products and audited their supplier.

This began in the starting of March 20, 2019 after a complaint came from a pet parent about their dog, which was approved by the FDA on 9th April 2019. The hill’s decided to expand their recall since they learned that due to their supplier’s error their was elevated vitamin D in the dog food.

Vitamin D is essential to dogs, only if it is given in a certain amount. The dog food has either more of it or less of it, which could in result cause harm to the pet. Harm in sense, they could suffer from vomiting, loss in appetite, weight loss, excessive drooling, increase in the thirst and urination due to less intake of the Vitamin D. In addition, if it was taken on a high level, the pet could suffer more serious problems like health issues that could later threaten the dogs’ life, which includes renal dysfunction.

The hill’s made sure that the retailers and people who had already bought this were informed about this mishap, and in case if somebodies pet has taken it they should contact their veterinarian, and the only way they would recover in most cases is the discontinuation of the feeding.

This recall is only taking place in the United States, as the whole research and complaint was from there. The other products like cat food, dry food and biscuits were not affected by this. Advised by the Hill’s for the people living outside US should contact the companies there.

The Hill’s pet nutrition would do their best for their customers to regain their trust. Any canned dog food that include figures like 05, 10, 11, 22, 28 or 29 in the lot code is advised to give it back to their retailer or contact the website directly.
